We are going to Lexington, South Carolina, the week of 25 MAY-2 JUN, 2012 to construct
part of a 24000+ square foot building for Center Pointe Community Church (CPCC).
They are part of the South Carolina Baptist Association. CPCC is currently worshipping
at a temporary location 1.4 miles from the 7.5 acre building site, which is across
the road from a middle school (a high school and grammar school are within 2 miles
as well). Our goal is to get the central worship center “in the dry” (approximately
8100 sq. ft.). Thankfully, the roof is 3/12 pitch and there will be plenty of work
below for the altitude-challenged.
Please note: The first official function for this trip will begin at 8:00
p.m. EDT on Friday, 25 MAY. Groups are encouraged to arrive 2-3 hours prior. First
provided meal for the C4C general construction team will be Saturday morning breakfast.
Also note: Friday, 1 JUN is planned as a full workday and Saturday, 2 JUN
is a travel day home. If there is still work to be done on Saturday, we will ask
for volunteers. Our project coordinators will determine when we have reached our
building objective of leaving the construction project in a safe, structurally sound
environment with our tasks substantially completed and suitable for the group that
follows C4C.
Location
It is centrally located:
- Auburn: 303 miles
- Gum Spring, VA: 377 miles
- Glen, St. Mary, FL: 316 miles
Pray
May God alone get the glory for the work He has called us to do. Please pray for
CPCC and for C4C. Pray that we don’t lose our focus -- which is to make, nurture,
and equip disciples for Jesus Christ by building men of character and godliness
– by getting caught up in the complexity of this project.
